Lonnie was born on December 10, 1946 in Woodstock, Virginia, and grew up on his family’s farm in Fort Valley. He has many fond memories of growing up and working the farm. In this series, he recounts some of his memories of fishing in the creek, bring in the hay, and harvest time.

Very few children in the world had scenery like I did. I’m not sure I appreciated it enough as a
child. Old too quick, wise too late. I had creeks, branches, hollows, mountains, hills, ponds and
more to look at. The hollows and creeks and branches were beautiful in the fall. The snow lay
for miles in the winter untouched.

This painting received a Blue Ribbon from Vinson Hall in the art show.

In the painting below, Lonnie in the hat from the painting above has made it to the sunlit creek to fish with his brother.

Spring also received a first place ribbon in the Vinson Hall Retirement community art exhibition.
