Holiday Cards

Several of Lonnie’s paintings have been chosen as holiday cards for Vinson Hall, mailed to all residents and their families. Holidays have always been a cherished time for Lonnie. Here’s a Christmas memory from his youth.

In 1952, I nearly froze walking to church about 160 yards two nights a week from thanksgiving until Christmas.  I went those nights to practice my Christmas piece.  Family tradition was you got a new winter coat and dress pants for Christmas.  It did not matter how cold it got you had to wait for Christmas for that coat.  What a joy it was when I got the coat.
