Tour the Artist’s Studio
Spend a day with us touring Lonnie’s works around Vinson Hall! Lonnie’s room is lined with his artwork. Almost every available wall space is devoted to his paintings. Lately, he’s been running out of space on his walls and has a number of his pieces set on the floor, waiting for the next show or potential buyers. Lonnie is always working on new pieces.

Here, Lonnie shows off a spring picture with yellow daffodils, paper white narcissus, and blue birds.

Lonnie is working on a halloween painting with a cart of pumpkins and a harvest moon.

Upstairs in the Penthouse Restaurant at Vinson Hall, Lonnie’s painting inspired by fine dining shows incredible lace detail and vibrant grapes.

On the way to the Penthouse Restaurant, this piece by Lonnie hangs in the hallway. Do you see the young boys fishing in the river? This memory from Lonnie’s childhood shows the sunlit creek where he often fished.

The artist and his inspiration! Lonnie admiring the work of Grandma Moses at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery. Lonnie enjoys trips to the museums on the national mall to study artwork.

Two recent paintings on the table in Lonnie’s studio show his latest collection exploring memories from his childhood.
