About Lonnie’s Art:
In 2016, Lonnie Cullers was diagnosed with leukemia and given 6-8 months to live. As he worked towards recovery, and fought back against the cancer at the Arleigh Burke Pavilion in the Vinson Hall Retirement Community he fell back in love with art, thanks to his art teacher and class of fellow artists.
Since then, his art has gone on to win many awards in and around the community, it has been featured in post cards and mailings for Vinson Hall, and starting earning a reputation as a photographer as well. This site covers his work with various painting mediums as well as his photography.
About Lonnie:
Born December 10, 1946 Woodstock Virginia to Mazie Tamkin Cullers and John Henry Cullers, Lonnie went to Strasburg high school before attending Shenandoah College from 1965-1967.
He then started working as a Store Manager for FW Woolworth Co. in Ocean City NJ. From 1967-1973, He lived in NJ before returning to Virginia and receiving his BS in Management from Shenandoah University. He completed his Graduate School Studies at Mount Saint Mary’s University, Emmitsburg, Maryland in 1979.
From 1973 to 1990, Lonnie worked as a Lowe’s Sales Associate in Winchester, VA. Then he entered the home store world himself as the Co-owner of Dawsons’ Home Center in Berkley Springs, West Virginia. He played all the roles for 7 years, and the returned to Lowe’s from 1997-2016, this time in Sales.
Lonnie lives in Stevens City, Virginia and has two daughters, three granddaughters and one grandson. Since both daughters are UVA girls, they have knighted him the title “UVA Dad’, and since both his granddaughters (so far) have gone to Duke, they’ve dubbed him “Duke Granddad.” Lonnie enjoys visiting with his daughters on holidays and skirmishing on Jackie’s team, 5th Virginia volunteer infantry, NSSA. Presently a resident at Room 108, 1739 Kirby Road, Arleigh VH, McLean, Virginia 22101.
